Late English journalist and television host who was shot and killed outside her home in April 1999. She was the host of the BBC show Crimewatch and was named BBC Personality of the Year in 1997. A man was sent to prison for eight years for her murder but was never acquitted.

She was head girl at Broadoak Sixth Form Centre and acted in plays at the Barnfield Theatre.

The Jill Dando Institute of Crime Science was founded in her honor two years to the day after her murder. A Serbian warlord was later named a suspect but had already died.

She was engaged to obstetrician and gynecologist Alan Farthing at the time of her death.
